Shredded trees. Oh wait, shredded tees.

I have decided to shred, or rip, one of my tie-dyed t-shirts that i have not worn. Thirty minutes have passed, and my progress is the size of a dime, hardly noticeable. At least it's enjoyable! I'm anticipating the finished product.

Also, i am getting a new phone..my current one doesn't last for more than a few hours at a time.

Thrifting.

On Monday, i went to three thrift stores, and here are my purchases. The clothing looks larger than it actually is.

Both vests are from the same store.

These shoes are from the same store as the vests. I had been wanting a pair of heels that aren't too tall, and these fit perfectly. And they were only $1.99

This blazer was from The Hope Chest. $3.99

These sweaters are from Goodwill, as is the Pearl Jam cd case. The cd was missing, but the eye catching case made up for it, in my opinion.

Doodles i have drawn.

I drew the first in a class full of first graders, since i had nothing to do. It was inspired by Take Me to the Riot by Stars. Mainly by the line "the one with the empty looking eyes". There's more i would like to do with it.

The second are sharpie drawings that i used watercolors on a few days ago.

So is the third, minus the watercolors.

Halloween and Autumn in General

I don't think i will ever grow too old to dress up for Halloween. This year, i was a woodland fairy. My fairy wings started out red. i tore off the red fabric from each section, and cut the legs off of three pairs of green tights. Then, i sewed on the green, one leg per wing section. Being the procrastinator i am, i did most of it the night before Halloween.

The last three pictures are pictures i took a few days ago.
i'm starting to realize that Autumn just might be my favorite season.

Costume:
Green leotard and tutu: a ballet performance last summer. it was The Secret Garden.
Brown tights: Target
Gold flats: Delias
Autumn-themed headpiece: a craft store. it was probably meant to be a table decoration.

Outfit:
Dress: UO
Brown leggings: i've have them for years
Pointy black flats: Gottschalks
Grey cardigan: Aeropostale

i've been gone for far too long

To the few readers i may have, i apologize for not blogging in months. i will do my best to change that :)
For now, here's a poem that i wrote some time in August.
Bobbing and flitting
towards whisps of cloud.
You tethered me
and helped me keep
my sanity.
I like to believe
I helped you keep yours as well.
All of a sudden, you let go.
My meager ribbon tail
helplessly floats from your fingertips.
You no longer make an effort
to keep me grounded.
You simply watch
and wave
every once in a while.
i want to come down

Now, i am much happier than i was when i wrote it. I've found that writing poems unearths emotions i didn't know were there, which has both negative and positive aspects.

On another note, this is what i wore to school on Monday. My town is on the small side, as is my high school, so i suppose you could say my ensemble attracted a bit of attention.

white vneck: handed down to me from my mom
black tank top: Target
floral skirt: Forever 21
grape colored stirrup tights: Forever 21
pointy toed flats: Gottschalks

Buckets of ink

Lately, i've been sleepy from around 2 in the afternoon to 6 in the afternoon, and very awake and hungry from 10 at night until the minute i go to sleep, which is usually after 2 in the morning these days. I don't know if i like this, but i'm quite sure i don't.
Sometimes i am lucky enough to be hit by inspiration after midnight, as i was when i wrote this poem approximately ten days ago.

Buckets of ink
wash over the world,
seeping into crevices.
Inevitable.
Willow trees turn to charcoal
statues.
Elongated shadows,
encouraged by velvet darkness.
Few can defeat it.
Heads nodding violently forward,
cupfuls of sand
spilling into buckets
framed with eyelashes.
They will succumb.
Somewhere, deep
in the sound
produced by silence
one may catch a glimpse,
a glimmer of dawn.
Twinkling morsel
from that of dreams.

Can you guess what it is about? :)

Wreck This Journal

I've spent a large part of my summer with my nose buried in books. So it's no surprise to me that I have been captivated by Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith for quite some time. On Sunday, i finally ordered my very own copy from Borders with a gift card that i received over nine months ago. At around noon on Wednesday, i looked out my window and saw the Fed Ex truck driving away. I hurried downstairs, and there it was, a sturdy cardboard package wedged between the screen door and the wooden door.
So far, i have poked holes in one of the pages with a pencil and infused a page with a scent of my choice (some sort of pomegranate body spray from Bath & Body Works and my favorite vanilla chapstick from Avon, all dusted over with a pinch of glitter). I have started a few other pages, and am hoping to upload pictures soon.
